There have been a few stories about people encountering guys wearing gimp suits in the middle of the night in their relatively secluded villages over the past couple of years and the latest one is coming straight out of Cleeve, North Somerset.

An unnamed teenager was hanging out on the streets with his friend at 00:25 on Tuesday morning when they were both approached by a man in a gimp suit who was falling over, grunting and writhing around on the floor. Here’s what the kid had to say about the situation:

I don’t want this guy to be seen as a bogey man… but this kind of thing, this invisible threat that he could be anywhere… it’s indirectly causing fear.

It’s not just about the encounter, but the effect it has in waves through the community. It’s quite gut-wrenching.

The guy took a step up on the pavement, arched his body and flopped to the ground, without putting his hands out to catch himself.

He was wearing blue latex gloves and a dark bodysuit from head to toe, which was covered in mud.

His outfit was shiny with some sort of liquid and he was glistening in the torchlight and he smelt really earthy.

After he had gone… you could still smell it.

We were worried initially but the absurdity of the situation tore through the tension and we began to laugh.

I think some people might be psychologically scarred if they saw the same thing though.

Yeah I suppose those are the two options when confronted with this kind of bizarre situation – either laugh it off or become psychologically scarred forever. One or the other, take your pic.

Anyway, that does sound like a scary situation to find yourself in and it’s kinda nuts that the police down there haven’t been able to identify a suspect as there have been multiple sightings of a similar character over the past few years. A man in his 30s has been arrested and bailed this time, but it remains to be seen whether or not he’s the culprit.

If you’re in the area and end up encountering him, remember to laugh at him, otherwise you’ll end up traumatised for life. Just a bit of advice there for you.
