Let’s be honest – Kylie Minogue had some absolute bangers back in day. ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’ and ‘Love At First Sight’ are just objectively banging tunes. So that’s why it feels good to know that the Aussie legend completely emasculated (or whatever the feminine equivalent is) Kylie Jenner by blocking her trademark and then using it herself for an identical product. Talk about adding insult to injury!
Kylie revealed the story in an interview with Andy Cohen last week, saying the incident took place in 2017 when Jenner was trying to trademark the name ‘Kylie’ for her beauty brand:
‘It was just business, obviously.
When I was named Kylie … I think I’ve met one person older than me called Kylie, so it’s kind of unusual. I’ve spent a lifetime protecting my brand and building my brand, so it was just something that had to be done.’
Minogue then launched her own beauty brand – simply named Kylie – which she released in 2019. There was even a dig in the legal documents that pointed out Minogue is an “internationally renowned performing artist, humanitarian and breast cancer activist” who already owns the trademark for “Kylie Minogue” and owned Kylie.com since 1996. Meanwhile, Jenner was referred to as a “secondary reality TV personality”.
Ouch. I mean that last bit really is the cherry on top, isn’t it? Kylie Minogue just leaving no doubt as to who the #1 Kylie is. Not only does she crush Kylie Jenner’s attempt to trademark her beauty line, she then drops her own beauty line and names it ‘Kylie’, while also hitting her with the ultimate TKO blow of being called a ‘secondary reality TV personality’. All hail the queen I guess? Hit it:
For the time Kylie Jenner tried to trademark the phrase ‘rise and shine’, click HERE. That didn’t work out either.
