With a number of footballers coming out as gay and others having sex with transgender prostitutes in recent years, it’s good to see LGBT acceptance on the rise in the football world.
Well it’s about to make another giant leap forward with reports that PSG’s Kylian Mbappe is dating transgender model Ines Rau; the first transgender model to star on the cover of Playboy.
As per SportsBible, Mbappe was seen at the Cannes Film Festival with Rau and was later pictured frolicking about with her on a luxury yacht:
Rau actually made her first appearance in Playboy back in 2014, and in 2017, became the first trans model to star on the cover.
Rau had said in an interview with the magazine:
“I lived a long time without saying I was transgender.
I dated a lot and almost forgot. I was scared of never finding a boyfriend and being seen as weird. Then I was like, you know, you should just be who you are. It’s a salvation to speak the truth about yourself, whether it’s your gender, sexuality, whatever.
The people who reject you aren’t worth it. It’s not about being loved by others; it’s about loving yourself.”
She added:
“When I was doing this shoot, I was thinking of all those hard days in my childhood.
And now everything happening gives me so much joy and happiness. I thought, ‘Am I really going to be a Playmate — me?’ It’s the most beautiful compliment I’ve ever received. It’s like getting a giant bouquet of roses.”
Well, I guess there’s no greater validation than 1) making the cover of Playboy and 2) dating one of the most famous footballers in the world who isn’t afraid to be photographed fooling around with you on holiday. The only concern is that you just know rival fans of PSG are going to have an absolute field day with this one on matchdays. But I suppose Mbappe is used to the drama at this point.
