Earlier this week in the 7th tier of English football, Bognor Regis visited Kingstonian FC and managed to pull off a 2-1 result.
That isn’t that notable – in fact it’s not notable at all – but the scenes at full time were very out of the ordinary. Taking a leaf out of Eric Cantona’s book, Kingstonian’s keeper Rob Tolfrey confronted a traveling Bognor Regis fan by jumping into the crowd and a mass brawl erupted, with multiple punches thrown from both sides.
Although in this video it looks like the goalkeeper was to blame for the altercation, Kingstonian player Josh Casey claims in a couple of tweets that the fan punched Tolfrey in the face after racially abusing him before the video started, which led to these scenes. Not sure who to believe but I don’t think Casey really has any reason to lie about this. It’ll be interesting to see how this one pans out.
To be fair though, it’s nothing like what goes on in the Brazilian lower leagues, where one referee ended up decapitated after he stabbed a player during a game. No joke.

@JoshCasey14 @alikazemiuk @RavitAnand same fan also shouted racist abuse at a Kingstonian player.
