What is this guy like eh? Kim Jong-un has just had one of his officials executed with a flamethrower after deciding he was an ‘enemy of the state’. O Sang-hon is said to have been killed for his close ties to Kim’s uncle Jang Song-taek, who was himself executed back in December. Sang-hon is the 11th Workers Party official who Kim has turned on and had killed this year, with South Korean media reporting that he plans to execute and imprison hundreds more who are related to the deceased.
Literally nothing that comes out of North Korea surprises me anymore. Kim is always getting up to the craziest shit, whether it’s opening a ski resort while everyone in the country starves, feeding his uncle to a pack of dogs (unconfirmed but entirely plausible), kicking it with Dennis Rodman, or demanding every male in North Korea get the same haircut as him; nobody even questions these stories anymore because Kim has carved himself such a reputation as completely spontaneous nutcase who is capable of anything.
