While London is renowned for its landmarks, multiculturalism and inimitable style to non-residents, what really defines living there is the fact that you can’t walk 200 yards down any high street without finding the saving grace of a fried chicken shop. The most prolific chain restaurant Morley’s has even spawned swathes of copycat stores with names like Marley’s, Molley’s and Morrey’s to try and dupe customers into spending their small change elsewhere (I’m not even kidding). Yet, although the streets of London are filled with the remnants of chicken bones, the variety of takeouts means it’s sometimes difficult to know where you’re getting the best bang for your buck. Or, sometimes, it’s nice just to know what chicken shops have at least a moderate level of hygiene, unlike the one that was forced to close down after human shit was found smeared on its walls. Rest assured, the Chicken Connoisseur has the solution.

The commentary is brilliant. Our critic may start off as gassed for the chips, but he only gives them a 3 out of 5 because of the amount of sauce they need and the flavour of the chicken is described as weak. Meanwhile, the burger may be ‘hench’ but it’s ‘not peng at all’ and the flavour is ‘dead.’ Amazingly, while the Chicken Connoisseur looks like someone’s cheeky little shit of a 15-year-old brother, he’s apparently actually 23.
