Another day, another stunt by Just Stop Oil activists – this time gluing themselves to the famous ‘Girl With A Pearl Earring’ painting by Johannes Vermeer at the Hague, and then, in a bizarre twist, pouring tomato soup on their own heads instead of the painting.
Breathtaking stuff…

There’s no denying these museum stunts are excellent ways to get publicity, as they prove each and every time, but I’m not so sure it’s winning anyone over to the cause. People just seem to find these activists petulant and annoying, even if they do have valid points to make about the environment. I guess we’ll have to see how it works out for them in the long run – we might look back on it as one of the more ingenious publicity stunts of all time if this actually prompts governments to act on climate change.
Either way, would rather they keep trashing museums than blocking off major roads and motorways, which doesn’t do anyone any favours. One guy turned up to Dartmouth Crossing last week and blasted these protesters with fireworks. That about sums up the nation’s feelings on the matter.
