The noise about Andrew Tate seems to have died down a fair bit in the last few days after his arrest over Christmas, but a lot of his dedicated followers are still protesting his imprisonment and saying that it’s completely unlawful and unjustified.

A judge yesterday released a document explaining why Tate had been detained for an additional 30 days and Mario Nawfal has kindly picked out the key statements from it for us. Here’s what he had to say about it:

1/ A recent Romanian court document elaborates why Andrew Tate’s detention was increased to 30 days. The document also provides further info about the charges his group is facing.

3/ The document makes a reference to three types of evidence used to incriminate the suspects – witnesses’ statements, psychological reports of the victims, and the conversations that took place via messaging apps.

5/ The document specifies that the investigation started nine months ago and is still ongoing and that the fact that the accused are currently detained does not mean they’re guilty.

7/ Finally, the judge does not agree with the accused’s defense that in those audio and video shots the accused were playing a particular character or persona (role play).

9/ Finally, the judge considers that setting the accused free presents a risk of them escaping to a country Romania doesn’t have an extradition treaty with.

Yeah I think that all makes sense, the judge is basically saying that everyone involved is a flight risk because they’re super rich, but more crucially that he isn’t buying their defence that they were all playing characters in their videos as they treated the victims like that in real life. Can imagine if (when?) this goes to trial that that’s going to be a pretty key part of the trial. Shouldn’t be too long until we find out hopefully.

Everyone saying that it’s unlawful is wrong too. Pretty sure that people get denied bail all the time because they’re flight risks so it’s no different to any of that. Grow up.
