‘Joker’ was one of the biggest surprises in modern day movie history back in 2019 as the Joaquin Phoenix movie about the origin of Batman’s greatest nemesis ended up grossing a billion dollars worldwide on the back of a $62 million budget.

With that kind of money being made, it was inevitable that talk would turn to a sequel but both Phoenix and director/screenwriter Todd Philips seemed reluctant to continue the story of Arthur Fleck as they felt like this might devalue the original movie. Of course though, money talks and Philips yesterday revealed the title of the sequel in an Instagram post, as well as revealing that Phoenix would more than likely be reprising the role as well after posting a picture of him reading the script too.

Looks promising doesn’t it? In case you’re wondering ‘Folie a Deux’ loosely translates as ‘The Madness Of Two’ which would imply that the Joker might be meeting another psychopath in the sequel, leading to many fans speculating that this could mean the introduction of Harley Quinn.
Whether or not that would mean that Margot Robbie would step up to appear in the movie is anyone’s guess though – there are so many different alternate Batman universes out there at this point that nobody really knows what’s going on with any of them or who is supposed to be living in which one. You wouldn’t bet against it though with both Marvel and DC seemingly completely obsessed with the Multiverse at this point. Probably have to wait a while to find out, but if the first movie was anything to go by it will be worth it.
