Johnny Depp’s comeback is well and truly on after it was announced that he’s currently filming his first movie since the accusations raised against him by Amber Heard over in France at the moment, is heading out on tour with his Hollywood Vampires band next summer and is now set to direct a new movie that Al Pacino is producing.

If you think that’s strange then you’re not alone because Depp isn’t exactly known for his skills as a director. He’s only ever directed one movie before and that was back in 1997 – ‘The Brave’ starring Marlon Brando, which I’ve never even heard of and doesn’t have very good reviews on the internet – so it’s kinda surprising that he’s been picked to helm a biopic about Italian painter Amedeo Modigliani.
Yeah, I’ve got no idea who he has either but here’s what the movie is going to be about apparently:

Based on the play by Dennis McIntyre and adapted for the screen by Jerzy and Mary Kromolowski, the film will tell the story of the painter and sculptor in Paris in 1916.
Long considered by himself a critical and commercial failure, Amedeo Modigliani navigates a turbulent and eventful 48 hours that will become a turning point in his life, ultimately solidifying his reputation as an artistic legend.
The saga of Mr. Modigliani’s life is one that I’m incredibly honored, and truly humbled, to bring to the screen. It was a life of great hardship, but eventual triumph — a universally human story all viewers can identify with,” Depp said in a statement.
Lol is he kinda comparing Modigliani’s life to his own recent troubles there? Certainly seems like it doesn’t it?
Not sure why Al Pacino is involved with this anyway, but I imagine some more weird Hollywood stars will come out and end up starring in it as well to fully welcome Johnny Depp back into the fold. He’ll probably win an Oscar for Best Director too. Shooting starts in spring next year so expect to hear some more updates around it then.
