Joey Barton is asking for financial help from his followers after revealing that Jeremy Vine is suing him for his “bike nonce” Tweet, under which he also shared a photo of Vine hanging out with one of the most notorious nonces in history – Rolf Harris.
Joey Barton has now confirmed on social media that Jeremy Vine is suing him over the Tweets, while (unwisely) continuing to use the hashtag #bikenonce.
Barton claims he is being sued for £250,000, and has started a GoFundMe with a target of £100,000 to help him out, and is also asking for people to contact him if they have any dirt he can use on Vine. Lol.
As you can see, Joey Barton says “all proceeds gained” will go to Alder Hey children’s hospital. On the crowdfunder page itself though, Barton writes that the fundraising effort is designed “to provide crucial support in his legal battle against Jeremy Vine”, and adds that donations to Alder Hey will come from “any damages awarded”. So I think he needs to clear that one up a little bit otherwise people might think he’s being a bit dodgy and dishonest.
Amazingly, Barton has managed to receive £3k in donations already, which either means there are some real Joey Barton superfans out there or that people really do hate Jeremy Vine that much:
Of course, Joey Barton also has the Eni Aluko lawsuit to worry about, so I guess he’ll need every penny he can get. Maybe a lesson to keep his gob from running away from him, although like I said he is still calling Jeremy Vine a bike nonce on Twitter so it doesn’t seem like he’s figured it out quite yet.
