Joe Rogan is no stranger to making controversial remarks in his podcast, but its popularity has so far ensured that he’s remained impervious to cancellation.

However, Joe has now allegedly made anti-semitic remarks on his show and we all know what happened to Kanye West when he started dissing the Jews don’t we? Joe was talking about Rep. Ilhan Omar when she defended America’s support of Israel by saying that ‘it was all about the Benjamins’, remarking that it wasn’t an anti semitic statement because ‘saying Jewish people aren’t into money was like saying Italian people weren’t into pizza’.
Check out the clip below:
.@joerogan saying “the idea that Jewish people are not into money is ridiculous. That’s like saying Italians aren’t into pizza” would make sense if Jews invented money and/or Italians had been massacred because of a conspiracy that they control the world through pizza. pic.twitter.com/odzZzFHIYG

It’s just about money — she’s just talking about money.
That’s not an anti-Semitic statement, I don’t think that is. Benjamins are money.
The idea that Jewish people are not into money is ridiculous. That’s like saying Italians aren’t into pizza. It’s f—ing stupid. It’s f—ing stupid.
Obviously it didn’t take too long for people to come out and say that Rogan’s words were antisemitic and that he sounded like Kanye West. Here’s a few reactions:
This statement by Joe Rogan is blatantly and disgustingly antisemitic. It plays on one of the oldest, ugliest, and most dangerous antisemitic tropes. This is indefensible. pic.twitter.com/6Gt0IQ0Llo

I pay very little attention to @joerogan. But … as a Jew, this is pretty fucked-up. My dad was a CPA. My mom was a probation officer. Worked hard, saved, never wealthy. Busted ass to give their kids good lives, college educations. So—fuck you. https://t.co/6UErEpHPD0

I’m shocked to discover the clip below of @joerogan indulging in vile antisemitism by flippantly insisting ‘Jews love money like Italians love pizza’
Joe, do you realize you sound just like @IlhanMN and Kanye?!
Dont you realize that your words foment Jew-hatred?!
Shame on you! https://t.co/nfD7k3GOur pic.twitter.com/wQFvwoNldM

I love @joerogan – and that is why I’m calling this out. Jews have been murdered for centuries because of the antisemitic trope of Jewish control of global finance. Jews people are not collectively into anything. pic.twitter.com/mLfGF6hLVX

Saying Jews are “into money” is erasing our history @JoeRogan. Jews were barred from owning land and entering into most professions due to antisemitic persecution, which is why many of us took on business and banking. Antisemitic tropes are dangerous when Jews are being attacked. https://t.co/fiLzRY2fvc

Disturbing that at a time of rising anti-Jewish violence, when growing numbers of Americans believe in antisemitic conspiracy theories, @joerogan would use his immense platform to spew antisemitic tropes about Jews and money. https://t.co/O6o1i2nS9x

I suppose you gotta say they’re right there haven’t you? There has long been the stereotype that Jewish people are obsessed with money prevalent in society – probably dating back to the Shylock character in Shakespeare’s ‘Merchant Of Venice’ – and it clearly harbours negative feelings against Jews, so maybe we should listen to the people that it’s affecting here and stop using it as the butt of jokes like this?
The cliche does seem to be doing more harm than good in society, but on the other hand most of the Jewish people I’ve ever met in my life have been really into money or exceptionally tight with it. Stereotypes are usually stereotypes for a reason but I think in this instance we probably should start listening to the people that it’s affecting and maybe try and stop ignorantly dissing Jews every time we start talking about our tight friends. Probably not gonna take off though.
As for Joe Rogan, I would like to think that this might be the start of something with him, but I doubt he’s going to triple down on it like Kanye West did so I’m sure he’ll probably end up being OK. Guy can literally take on anyone and come out the other side unscathed.
For more of the same, check out Joe Rogan having a meltdown about a fake news story that he made up himself. Classic clip.
