Knowing what we know about Heath Ledger, you’d think the absolute head case that is Joaquin Phoenix would be an unwise choice to play The Joker.

However there’s a big difference between Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix, and that’s that Phoenix was already completely out of his mind before he signed on for the part.

It’s not surprising then that he’s taking the Joker back to his classic roots with a creepy clown chuckle as his choice of laugh.

So far, I like what I see. Joaquin Phoenix is that brooding, dark sort of dude who is fully in touch with his inner lunatic, so mix that all together and you have the perfect recipe for the Joker. Let’s just hope he comes out of the other side in one piece.
