OK, I know I said a few days ago that I wasn’t going to let Sick Chirpse turn into a Jim Carrey fansite – like it turned into a Charlie Sheen fansite when he was experiencing his breakdown a few months ago – in the posts I put up about him singing Creep and Bullet With Butterfly Wings in New York hipster bars, but when I discovered one of the potential reasons why he had been singing Creep in bars I just had to post it. It turns out that a couple of weeks ago Jim Carrey declared his love for actress Emma Stone in a Youtube video.
Apparently this went viral instantly, but it turns out that I managed to miss it completely somehow. Not really sure how that happened as I pretty much spend my life trying to find dumb videos/incidents to stick up on Sick Chirpse. Anyway, it’s kinda creepy and weird but pretty obviously a joke from stuff of the stuff he says, like ‘If I were a lot younger I would marry you and we would have chubby little freckle-faced kids. We’d laugh all day long and go camping and play Yahtzee and tell ghost stories by the fire. And the $ex……well. And every day for the rest of your life you would thank God that I was the appropriate age for you.’
Jim Carrey admitted it was a prank on his twitter a few days after it went up, but I mean that could just be him covering his tracks because it didn’t work out. Although, being a 49 year old huge megastar there were probably a few other, more tactful ways he could have decided to declare his love to Emma Stone. Like maybe in person. But in any case, even if it was a prank it’s still a pretty weird thing to do, I mean why would he do that? Mr Popper’s Penguins has already made $200 million worldwide, it’s not like Jim Carrey needs any more publicity? Why Emma Stone, an actress less than half his age? Completely weird. I guess the internet reaction to this declaration of love could explain why Jim Carrey sang Creep in a hipster bar on Friday, you know, to pastiche the situation even more. It doesn’t really explain why he was singing Bullet With Butterfly Wings or that Bee Gees’ song though. Nope, can’t help with that one.
