Jermaine Jenas ‘Fuming’ In Excruciating Interview After BBC Sacking

By now you’ve probably heard that Jermaine Jenas – the face of The One Show and Match of the Day – has been sacked by the BBC for ‘sending unsolicited texts to a female staff member at the One Show’, and subsequently dumped by his management team as well.

Jenas discovered that he was getting the sack while live on talkSPORT (ironically, as he was predicting the sacking of Erik ten Hag from Manchester United this season), but ploughed on with the show for THREE HOURS before anyone made reference to it.  Eventually there was an uncomfortable interaction as his co-hosts offered him the chance to speak on it…

Then, an hour later, also on talkSPORT, Jenas was interviewed about it (3 parts below):

So basically, five minutes of Jermaine Jenas essentially saying ‘no comment’ and that he needs to talk to his lawyers about it. You would think that it would be safe for him to categorically deny any wrongdoing if he did nothing wrong, but I guess it’s more complicated than that when there’s talk of unsolicited text messages and what those messages could contain (d1ck pics maybe?). He couldn’t even clarify if it was just one colleague making a complaint or not!

Anyway, I don’t think anyone will particularly miss Jermaine Jenas’s contributions on Match of the Day; in fact all I’m seeing on social media is football fans celebrating the news and agreeing that Jenas was a terrible pundit.

It is interesting that the BBC dealt with this situation so swiftly though. Maybe they learnt their lesson from the Huw Edwards scandal? Either way, not a great look for the BBC that their employees keep embarrassing them like this.
