Just when you thought James Corden couldn’t be any more annoying, he’s stolen one of Ricky Gervais’s most famous jokes nearly word-for-word while making fun of Elon Musk on The Late Late Show last night.
Listen to this and see if any of it sounds familiar…

And interspliced with clips of Ricky making the exact same joke years ago…

Absolutely shameless. I mean we know James Corden is out of touch, but surely there’s no way he thought this wouldn’t get picked up on, right? Did he even realise he was stealing Ricky Gervais’s joke? Did someone else write it for him? Well I doubt it because even his delivery and the way he scrunches his face on the “I don’t wanna play the guitar bit” is identical to the way Ricky does it.
I guess Corden is sitting down though while Ricky was standing up during the joke, so maybe there is some difference. Enough for Corden to claim he came up with it himself? Probably not. Here’s what Ricky had to say about it on Twitter:
The bit about the town square advert for guitar lessons is brilliant 😂 https://t.co/KXKcHVbDrT

No. I reckon one of the writers ‘came up with it’ for him. I doubt he would knowingly just copy such a famous stand up routine word for word like that.

Wouldn’t put it past him tbh.
