Daniel Craig’s portrayal of James Bond over the last five movies has been praised by some for bringing an element of emotional depth to the character that didn’t really exist before as he previously was just some badass secret agent going around the world shagging whoever he wants.

Others weren’t so happy about this development, preferring the neanderthal banter of previous incarnations. If you’re falling into this latter camp, then you’re probably not going to like the new comments from producer Barbara Brocolli that imply Bond will be even more emotionally sensitive in the next instalment of the franchise.
Here’s what she had to say:

Daniel Craig has cracked Bond open emotionally and these qualities will be required of whoever plays the famous spy next.
It’s an evolution. Bond is evolving just as men are evolving. I don’t know who’s evolving at a faster pace.
We love Idris Elba. The thing is, [the casting decision] is going to be a couple of years off.
And when we cast Bond, it’s a 10-12 year commitment. So he’s probably thinking, ‘do I really want that thing?’ Not everybody wants to do that.
It’s not just about casting an actor for a film. It’s about a reinvention.
It was hard enough getting [Daniel Craig to do it], and he was in his early 30s at the time!
That’s why, when people go, ‘Oh, who are you going to get?’ it’s not just about casting an actor for a film. It’s about a reinvention, and ‘Where are we taking it? What do we want to do with the character?
And then, once we figure that out, who’s the right person for that particular reinvention?
Damn. Looks like the next Bond is going to be subject to more woke PC bullshit and the character will probably be unrecognisable from the one played by Sean Connery and Roger Moore back in the day. I suppose it was quite literally a different time back then and it’s not awful that men are talking about their emotions now, but it was probably a lot more fun and less serious in those days. Is it so much to ask to get some of those vibes back again?
For more of the same, check out when Brocolli said the next James Bond could be non binary. Come on now.
