It’s usually in a parent’s nature to want better for their kids than what they experienced in life, but I guess that doesn’t apply when you’re Jada Pinkett Smith, who has this week claimed in an interview that she would want daughter Willow to have the same kind of relationship that she and husband Will Smith had.
After all, what mum wouldn’t want her daughter to follow in her footsteps of cuckolding her husband, humiliating him to his face on TV, manipulating him into slapping Chris Rock during an awards show, ruining his career and turning him into a laughing stock overnight?
If you can, sit through the 2 minute clip below to hear what she says at around the 40 second mark:
Followed by the classic @rse-kissing response of the interviewer who acts like it’s the most inspiring thing she’s ever heard:
Cringe central. Of course Jada Pinkett Smith would never be self-deprecating enough to suggest that she’s set a negative example for her daughter when it comes to married life and how to respect your husband, but to say that repeatedly humiliating Will Smith in front of the world has “helped her become the woman I’m becoming” and that’s something her daughter can aspire to using the same method is just so narcissistic it’s insane.
As Jada says, marriage isn’t a fairytale, but it doesn’t have to be “devastating” (as she puts it) either. It has its ups and downs just like any other part of life. Wouldn’t she want her daughter to have a much easier and less complicated pathway to maturity and transformation than she did? Come on Jada Pinkett Smith, sort it out!
