If you mention the names Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Chris Pontius, Steve-O, Ryan Dunne, Ehren McGhehey or any of the other guys involved with ‘Jackass’ to anyone of a certain generation then their faces are all going to light up remembering all the times they spent watching them do ridiculously dangerous stunts for our viewing pleasure. Or maybe they’ll time that vicious rumour went around that Johnny Knoxville had died jumping out of an airplane trying to open a can of baked beans – it was a weird time before everyone had the internet on their phones OK?

Anyway, it should be a no brainer to Hollywood executives that everyone still had a lot of love for ‘Jackass’, but it took the recent reunion movie ‘Jackass Forever’ debuting at the top of the US charts with a much higher than expected $23.5 million take to convince them that their might be life in a new series. Fortunately, the movie introduced a whole new generation of pranksters/stuntmen in the form of Sean “Poopies” McInerney, Zach Holmes, Jasper Dolphin, Rachel Wolfson, and Eric Manaka, so it looks like they’re ready to roll with it.

Paramount Global CEO Bob Bakish broke the news on Tuesday during the company’s Q1 earnings call:

Based off the success of Jackass Forever, we’re working with the creators to continue the partnership with a new series, bringing even more ridiculous antics straight to Paramount+.

Ugh Paramount+. That sounds annoying as I don’t want to have to pay for another streaming service, but I suppose there will be some way to get around it. Just go round to my buddy’s house with a bunch of weed and some popcorn like the old days. Problem solved.

Anyway, I dunno if these news guys can really recreate the original magic of ‘Jackass’ considering there are probably loads of people already doing dumb stunts like this on YouTube every day now and they’re gonna be stuck on Paramount+, but fair play to them for trying. Let’s hope it works out.

For more of the same, check out when Poopies got his hand ripped to shreds by a shark for Shark Week. Maybe a new ‘Jackass’ series isn’t such a good idea?
