Because of the slow and inevitable onslaught of the loggers, many pygmy villages are near to large gangs of men. This, coupled with a lack of food and money, has driven many pygmy women to the oldest profession in the world. This opens them up for a whole range of diseases that they would otherwise have happily avoided.
The outlook for the pygmies is pretty bleak. Those that still live as they used to in the forests face being ousted by loggers. Those that have made it into towns are persecuted slaves that are considered a tasty dish. It sucks to be a pygmy.
