Just when you thought things couldn’t get stupider in the world, Iran have seemingly challenged the United States to a full on war after shooting down one of their military drones yesterday whilst it was travelling in international airspace.

Shortly after both US and Iran officials acknowledged that the drone had been downed, the Commander Of The Iran Revolutionary Guard General Hossein Salami appeared on TV delivering a speech where he said the following:

This shooting sends a clear message to America.

Iran does not have any intention for war with any country, but we are ready for war.

The American drone was violating our national security border.

Borders are our red line.

Any enemy that violates the borders will be annihilated.

Hmm they’re definitely fighting words aren’t they? I don’t think that Iran actually really is ready to go to war with the US thought are they? Surely they would just get bombed to fuck again and annihilated? We’ll see I guess.

I wasn’t actually aware of this – been paying too much attention to Brexit – but apparently there’s a load of tensions currently between Iran and America after Trump pulled out of the Tehran nuclear agreement a year ago. There have also been two attacks on Norwegian and Japanese oil tankers near the Gulf Of Oman last week which the US is blaming on Iran, although the official Tehran line is denial. (EDIT – earlier version of this article stated the oil tankers were American, this was a mistake)

Not sure what’s going to happen with this one but it’s probably one to keep your eye on. Wouldn’t really be that surprising if there was another war in the Middle East given the amount of idiocy that seems to be going on in world politics this century. Stay tuned.
