Every now and then amongst all of the shootings, terrorist attacks, wars and just general human suffering, a story like this comes along and makes you realise that humans ain’t that bad after all.

The video below shows a group of inmates at Parker County Jail in Texas risk breaking out of their cell and potentially getting shot in order to save the life of a guard who was suffering from a heart attack.

The men were all standing around when the armed officer lost consciousness and slumped over his chair. After a bit of shouting, you can see all of them getting out of the cell to help out even though it could have been potentially dangerous. As soon as the sergeant rushes in, the guys all politely get back in their cell and watch on as paramedics arrive at the scene.

That video makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. If it hadn’t been for those guys, that guard could have died. The world needs more people like this – good on you guys, I hope you get out of jail soon.
