Turns out there’s a method to the madness when it comes to the 19-year-old influencer who has decided to spend the year training only one side of his trapezius muscle.

The self-proclaimed Crooked Man has gone viral by doing trapezius exercises with just one arm, meaning just one of his traps gets developed. The end result? That area of his body looks completely weird and asymmetrical and deformed:

That appears to be the point, however. The lad has now explained why he’s undergoing this bizarre body experiment, and apparently he just wants to to against the grain.

He said: “Why does the one trap guy work out one trap? It’s pretty simple. I was scrolling TikToks in my Ferrari, and I kept getting these looksmaxing TikToks.”

“And they were like, ‘Do this, do that. You’ll look more attractive. You’ll get more women.”

“And it’s like, people have that problem? I have the opposite problem.

“I get so many DMS, I don’t even have time to get through them all.

“So I was like, ‘If I have the opposite problem, then I need the opposite solution. What’s the opposite of looksmaxing? Looksminimizing’.”

“What was the best way to looksminimize? Become more asymmetrical.

“Work out one trap, it solved my problem. And man, it has worked like a charm.”

It’s hard to tell whether he’s being serious or not, but it looks like he’s going all in with this experiment regardless. Apparently he’s also building just one arm and one leg, and so soon enough he will look even more ridiculous than he already does.

Although then again, maybe he’s onto something? If everyone else his age on TikTok is ‘looksmaxing’ and making themselves as aesthetically pleasing as possible, it’s only a matter of time before that trend dies and the complete opposite – looksminimising – becomes the new trend. At that point, The Crooked Man will be way ahead of the game and all the other boys will have to play catch up to him. Well played, young man. Well played indeed.
