It doesn’t look like India Willoughby is giving up on her quest to have JK Rowling arrested and thrown in jail for misgendering her, even after Northumbria Police ruled JK Rowling’s Tweets did not ‘meet the criminal threshold’ for a hate crime.
Willoughby announced she will be appealing the decision this week, as she isn’t satisfied with Northumbria Police’s statement that ruled out an investigation.
Naturally, JK Rowling has continued to exercise her right to take the p1ss out of India Willoughby on the internet, seeing as it’s legal and all:

What initially prompted India Willoughby to contact the police was JK Rowling’s Tweet responding to a video someone shared of India on Twitter/X:
Brutal stuff. This resulted in India Willoughby revealing in an interview with Byline TV that she had contacted the police to report JK Rowling for misgendering her:
EXCLUSIVE 🚨🚨🚨@IndiaWilloughby has called the police and reported @jk_rowling for an alleged hate crime for misgendering her.

Late on Friday, Northumbria Police put out this statement confirming India Willoughby had reported JK Rowling for misgendering her, but that they can’t do anything about it:
“On Monday, March 4, we received a complaint about a post on social media. While we recognise the upset this may have caused, the post was reviewed and did not meet the criminal threshold. The complainant has been updated of this.”
So I guess it’s up to India Willoughby to make a convincing case as to why Northumbria Police should reconsider. I’m guessing all that’s going to happen is that they’ll review the decision like she requested, and then just confirm that no hate crime was committed and so they can’t pursue it. After that, maybe she can write to her MP?
The best bet for India Willoughby is to wait until a government comes in that agrees with her stance on the matter. Who knows – maybe if JK Rowling is still misgendering India Willoughby in 10 years, there’ll be a new policy that rules she should go to prison for it. Until then, I guess she’s just going to have to suck it up.
