You can’t really go anywhere this week without hearing about Liam Neeson’s comments on how he once wanted to kill a black bastard after a person of colour had raped his friend and the latest person to have an opinion on what he’s been saying is none other than Whoopi Goldberg.

Speaking on The View over in America, Goldberg offered the following analysis of the situation:

People walk around sometimes with rage, that’s what happens. Is he a bigot? No. I’ve known him a pretty long time, I think I would have recognised, I’ve been around a lot of real bigots. I can say this man is not one.

You can’t be surprised that somebody whose loved one is attacked is angry and wants to go out and attack. What he did go on to say… is that he realised that it was too dark for him, he went and got himself help.

I mean yeah, I’ve been saying this all long and the fact is that Neeson did do that something like 40 years ago, realised it was completely wrong and then went and got help to deal with it in a normal way. He also critically said that he would have felt the same way about any minority or demographic of people that had raped his friend, people are just focussing way too much on the racist aspect of it. Really feel as though Neeson is badly getting thrown under the bus and his comments are being taken completely out of context, but really he should know better than to say stuff like that after being a celebrity for so long.
