Remember the University of Kentucky student who went viral in 2022 for repeatedly screaming the N-word at a black girl while assaulting her?

Here’s a reminder:

Sophia Rosing, 24, was hit with a one-year sentence after being charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place, third-degree assault on a police officer, fourth-degree assault and second-degree disorderly conduct. Oh, she also got expelled too.

Last month, Rosing’s lawyer filed a probation request, claiming his client had changed her ways and “dedicated herself to personal growth and accountability” but was suffering from “tremendous personal and professional consequences” for her behaviour.

Unfortunately for Rosing, the judge completely shut down the idea, saying it would “unduly depreciate the seriousness” of the crime. On the bright side, she’s being kept separate from other inmates at the jail for fear of retaliation over the viral video, so I guess she’s just going to have to patiently wait out her time and think some more about how unbelievably dumb it was to get in this situation in the first place.

I mean , it’s obviously bad enough being a racist, but to be dumb enough to say the N-word 200 times while attacking a black person on camera? That’s just next level brain damage. Even if you are drunk off your face.

Fair play to the other girl, Kylah Spring, for the way she handled the situation. If she popped Rosing one in the mouth I don’t think anyone could say it wasn’t warranted.
