We’ve covered enough MMA organisations out of eastern Europe to know that they are absolutely bonkers (examples coming at the end of this blog), but I don’t think I’ve ever heard of an MMA promotion that punishes a fighter that misses weight by pitting them against their opponent + their opponent’s dad.

That’s how they do it over in FAME MMA, and the result is pretty much what you would expect:

Strong start from the solo combatant, but in the end of the father & son duo were too much to handle. He might’ve actually won it if he didn’t go for the submission and focused on KO’ing them both, which he almost immediately did. Why would you go for a submission knowing full well that there’s two people in that cage to deal with? Zero fight IQ!

Well anyway, hopefully the experience didn’t knock too many years of that father’s life. Nice wholesome moment to see them get the W even with the odds stacked in their favour. Finally, some actual consequences for MMA fighters missing weight! Would love to see Dana White implement something like this in the UFC.

And now, a few more mental clips out of eastern European MMA:

It’s a different world out there.
