As if we weren’t already excited enough about the fact that Idris Elba was pulling on his trench coat again to reprise the role of John Luther this year – shooting is set to start in February – we’ve now also got news about a brand new dance anthem that he’s working on too.

I’m not really sure if this is something that we actually need to get excited about, despite the fact that Idris has been known to DJ from time to time, but perhaps the fact that he’s teaming up with DJ Jax Jones for it will get people stoked on it. He’s had a number one hit don’t you know: ‘I Got U’ back in 2014 with Duke Dumont.

Apparently the pair bonded after meeting backstage at a festival in Eastnor Castle in Herefordshire last summer. Here’s what Jax had to say about it:

We hung out at El Dorado, he DJ’d after me, he was mad cool and we had a few drinks and stuff, it was pretty chilled we got on straight away.

And then I saw he had a new film out called Molly’s Game so I went down on the red carpet to support him, we spoke again, got a picture with him and stuff.

We started chatting about hooking up, he seems interested.

I pinged him an email with some ideas, so hopefully that can happen this year.

It’s always good to have new music for the summer, of course.

I would love to get Idris just speaking on a record, some sort of social commentary too a bit like Baz Luhrmann’s Wear Sunscreen.

Man, that’s going back a bit isn’t it? But that was a massive worldwide hit so can you imagine how something like that with Idris Elba speaking on it could go down in 2018? Sounds like it could definitely work.
