It seems like in recent years all the major supermarkets have tried to outdo themselves with their pigs in blankets offering come the festive season and this year the first shots have been fired by Iceland, who have revealed that they’ll be selling Carolina Reaper versions of the much loved side dish this Christmas.

I’m sure you’re all aware of the Carolina Reaper – it’s the hottest chilli pepper out there – so it won’t be that hard to figure out the variation on the pig in blanket that they’re offering here: they’re really freakin’ hot. You might think that the pigs in blankets are just dusted with some Carolina Reaper powder, but this isn’t actually the case as the entire sausage has been seasoned with them so there’s pretty much no escape if you wanna dance with the reaper – he’s gonna get you.
A 252g packet will set you back just £2 – not sure how many pigs in blankets that equates too though – so it’s probably worth checking them out, although I’m not really sure I would enjoy my Christmas dinner if I was burning my mouth off as well. It’s not really the vibe I’m going for with my roast turkey, you know what I mean? Would much rather just eat a whole bunch of food and then slowly slip into a food coma whilst watching Eastenders, you know what I mean?
I’m sure there are some people out there who live for this kind of stuff though so it’ll definitely have an audience. It’s also a pretty neat trick to play on some people if you’re in a mischievous mood this Christmas – although don’t blame that on me. Can you imagine the scenes when your cousins start sweating at the dinner table?
For more of the same, check out these two metre long pigs in blankets from last year. Ridiculous.
