Who is Ice Spice, you ask? Well, she’s a rapper from the Bronx who is one the biggest names in music right now, owing mostly to her song ‘Munch’ which came out in 2022.

And what is a ‘Munch’, exactly? I’ll allow Urban Dictionary to explain:

Thanks to songs like ‘Munch’, ‘In Ha Mood’, and a collaboration she did with Taylor Swift called ‘Karma’, Ice Spice now has hit over a BILLION streams on Spotify. Which is completely nuts given she only turned up a year ago and hasn’t even released a full album yet. She also has a track with Nicki Minaj coming out for the Barbie soundtrack which is sure to skyrocket those streams even further.

Ice Spice owes a ton of her popularity to TikTok, where loads of young people (including Kim & Kanye’s daughter North West) routinely dress up like her (wig and all) and rap along to her lyrics. Which is a bit iffy given these are young kids rapping along to lyrics about boobs, butts, and sex, but obviously the record labels aren’t complaining.

Fair play to Ice Spice. Not quite on the level of Drake and Taylor Swift who get billions of streams per song, but still very impressive for someone who’s only been around 5 minutes. Even more impressive for someone who most people would say has no talent.
