Hugh Grant has detailed an ‘intrusive, insulting and creepy’ experience he had with staff at Heathrow Airport, after his children were allegedly questioned by an immigration officer.

Grant, 63, has three children (12, 8 and 6) with wife Anna Eberstein, but also shares two children (13 and 11) with his ex, Chinese actress Tinglan Hong.

Here’s what happened, according to Grant, as the family passed through immigration at Heathrow the other day:

The Bridget Jones star, 63, explained: 'Just came through Heathrow with wife and children. We all have the same last name (Grant) on our passports'

I think it’s safe to assume that the children that were questioned were Hugh Grant’s two mixed-race kids, which explains why he was upset about the whole thing. The immigration officer saw that they did not look like him, despite sharing the same last name, and thought they’d personally question the children to ensure they weren’t being smuggled or trafficked in plain sight by famous Hollywood actor Hugh Grant. Totally understandable.

Now it’s not uncommon for airport officials around the world to step in and ask these questions to young children who are travelling, so is Hugh Grant actually just getting annoyed at people for doing their jobs? After all, I’m sure this tactic occasionally does result in trafficked children being rescued.

Hugh Grant was probably just having a ‘do you know who I am?’ moment and thinks he’s too famous for this sort of thing to happen to him. I guess the immigration officer didn’t have a clue who he was?

So yeah, maybe ‘intrusive, insulting and creepy’ is a bit strong, but I can see why it would upset a parent to have a stranger in uniform question their children like that in front of them. Onwards and upwards, Hugh!
