When it comes to water parks, this country is definitely nowhere near as good as some of the ones I’ve seen in other parts of the world, but that’s with a good reason – the weather here doesn’t exactly make one much of a sustainable investment.

However, it’s now emerged that a gigantic £250 million indoor water park is set to be opened in Greater Manchester at the Trafford Centre, on the former site of Event City. It’s going to be called Therme Manchester and will hopefully finished by the year 2025, and will feature 30 pools, 35 slides, swim up bars, an indoor beach, botanic gardens and real palm trees, whilst also creating 1200 jobs in the area.

That all sounds a little bit too fantastic/too good to be true, but let’s wait until 2025 to see what it ends up looking like. Here’s what James Whittaker from Peel L&P said:

Therme Manchester is a landmark development for the North and something the UK has never seen before.

It’s incredibly exciting to see the land being prepared to welcome the resort to TraffordCity and we’re proud to help bring such an amazing attraction to the North West which we know will be enjoyed by so many people across the country whether it’s for a fun family day out, relaxation or educational trips.

Yeah it does sound like it’ll be worth a day out doesn’t it? Almost like you could probably spend the whole weekend there as well to be honest as it certainly sounds like it will be big enough and they’ll be a load to do there. Let’s hope it lives up to the hype in 2025 and doesn’t close down by 2027 because nobody is going or something like that.

For more of the same, check out Tropical Islands in Germany. Hopefully Therme has a similar vibe to that place.
