HIP HOP TRACKS OF THE WEEK

I thought’d I’d keep it short and sweet this time, dishing you the best tracks released in the Hip Hop sphere within this last week.

Travis Barker feat. KiD CuDi
“Cool Head”

Travis dropped yet ANOTHER dope track from his Give the Drummer Some album (which from my calculations, came out on Tuesday. Seriously, go cop it.) CuDi stretches his comfort zone, bringing his captivating rapping/singing package to a harder rock beat, served up by Travis Barker. Cool track, no?

Styles P feat. Rell
“I’m a G”

Don’t let the oh-so typical rap song title sway you. This is soulful rap at its best. Styles P, who found success and credibility both as a solo artist and as a member of the Ruff Ryder and L.O.X. crews in the late ’90s/early ’00s, kinda disappeared from the game in these past few years. I hope this banger is a sign that he’s ready to announce his comeback.

Mos Def
“World Premiere”

Highly-acclaimed (and personal fan of mine, if that counts for anything), Brooklyn emcee, Mos Def, made a welcome comeback to Hip Hop since releasing his 2009 album, The Ecsatic. Here he gives a, well, world premiere of his World Premiere track, produced by legendary and much-loved Californian beatsmith, Madlib. So glad to see Mos on the music stage once again.
