A company has invented a beer that is so high in protein and low in calories it will help prevent drinkers from getting a beer belly.
The drink, Barbell Brew, contains around 21.8g of protein (around the same amount you’d find in a decent sized steak), but also has an alcoholic content of 3.6% – not huge, but still enough to get a bit blotto. It also only has a caloric count of 92.4, which is pretty low compared to regular beer.
MuscleFood.com created the beverage, which is also gluten-free, to attract gym bunnies and health nuts as beer normally has a pretty bad rep among these groups. Darren Beale from Muscle Food said:
Living a healthy lifestyle can be difficult, especially when you enjoy a drink with friends. But now our high-protein alternative means anyone can enjoy a beer without the guilt.
Our rigorous taste tests have ensured it tastes similar to popular craft beers whilst holding 85% fewer carbohydrates and 33% less calories than other well-known brews.
Many of our customers are looking forward to enjoying a cold beer along with one of our hugely popular high-protein pizzas.
Never before has anyone been able to claim that drinking a six-pack will help you get a six-pack and we’re delighted to have finally achieved just that.
Well there you go — for the first time ever you can literally jump off the treadmill and drink a beer as your post-workout protein fix. Hopefully Amazon will add them to their one-hour beer delivery service.
