How’s your Monday going? Not too shabby? That’s good. I mean yeah it’s Monday so your brain probably isn’t functioning anywhere near full capacity and you know there’s still a whole work week left to trudge through but even so you can cheer up now, because at least you’re not Daniel Clavin — the 38-year-old Irish dude whose had hiccups for TWO YEARS.
That’s not even the killer part. Daniel’s just been told that there’s probably no cure for his hiccups and he’ll have them for the rest of his life.
The hiccups started after he got really wasted one night and for some reason they just never went away. He has to sleep in a separate room to his wife, struggles to eat properly and is too embarrassed to go out in public.

Think about all the things you would do to try get rid of chronic hiccups — holding your breath, having people jump out and scare/surprise you, gargling water etc. Imagine none of that works and your only hope is to go to the doctor for at least some kind of lifeline and the news you get is that your hiccups are staying for life. Devastating.
Surely there’s someone out there who can find a cure?
