It’s safe to say pretty much everyone around the world was blown away with the Netflix series ‘Stranger Things’. And now that season two is in preparation, we’re all waiting in anticipation for its release.

The shooting will begin next month and to mark the occasion, producer and director Shawn Levy has spoken out about what to expect from the second installation and quite frankly, he sounds nervous.
Yes, the pressure is on. It would be so blatantly disingenuous of me to say differently. It’s scary to have people love something this much. It becomes impossible to banish all thoughts of not wanting to disappoint. This has been the challenge of it: on the one hand as we’ve see in the movie world, to do a follow-up that feels like the same thing is disappointing to an audience; to abandon things or change things [from the original], that disappoints the audience. A lot of Season 2 is next-level, some crazy stuff, but we must service these characters who are now beloved, who are known to the audience.
The creators of the show, the Duffer brothers, have said that season two will be a sequel, and will be taking inspiration from James Cameron, director of ‘Aliens’ and ‘The Terminator’. They said:
One of the reasons his sequels are as successful as they are is he makes them feel very different without losing what we loved about the original.
And they also revealed that season two is going to be adding some exciting new characters, although it will still be following the likeable group who we all know and love from the first series.
I think we’re going to stay honest with these kids by growing with them.
Well that all sounds very promising. As said, Levy does sound like he’s bricking it a bit, but I guess that’s to be expected when your first series does so well. I’ll bet the next one will be a banger too.
