As far as new-er video game franchises go, there haven’t been that many more successful in previous years than the ‘Assassin’s Creed’ games – they even managed to get a movie out of them starring Michael Fassbender, which is pretty unheard of these days.

Anyway, it makes sense that the game series would continue and it’s doing so with the next instalment entitled ‘Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla’. It’s pretty obvious from the title that this means we’re gonna be dealing with Vikings, but I doubt any of you were smart enough to realise that we would be dealing with them during their invasion of Britain, were you?
Here’s the first full trailer and synopsis underneath that:

Driven from Norway by endless wars and dwindling resources in ninth century AD, players will lead Eivor’s clan of Norsemen across the icy North Sea to the rich lands of England’s broken kingdoms.
Players must carve out a new future for their clan, reliving the ruthless fighting style of Viking warriors with a revamped combat system that includes the ability to dual-wield weapons against a greater variety of enemies than ever before.
To secure resources, players can lead raids to select locations using their longship to earn much-needed riches and supplies.
As the Vikings begin to settle in their new home, they encounter resistance from the Saxons, including King Aelfred of Wessex, who denounces them as heathens and looks to be the sole ruler of a civilized England.
Against all odds, Eivor must do what is necessary to keep Valhalla within reach.
Holy moly the graphics look good on that one hey? Not really sure why this game needs to be included in the ‘Assassin’s Creed’ mythology as it just seems to be a pretty standard viking game from the trailer, but maybe we’ll see more of that in the months leading up to its release. Should be a good one regardless.
