2016 is shaping up to be a mad year for remakes – we’ve got ‘Big Trouble In Little China’, ‘Jumanji’ and ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ to name a few.

And now it looks like the ultimate clown horror series, the adaptation of Stephen King’s ‘It’, is also getting a rework. This could either turn out to be good news or bad news for horror lovers, depending on how it is executed. The original was strangely terrifying whether you have coulrophobia or not as Tim Curry’s performance as Pennywise the dancing clown was truly the stuff of nightmares.
Little has been revealed so far about the plot, but reports imply that it will stay true to the original material. For those of you have haven’t read the book, the story follows a group of children and their battle against the psychopathic clown Pennywise who can shapeshift to tap into people’s deepest fears.
In terms of release date there’s still a little while to go – apparently it’s not going to be out until September 2017 so keep that date in your diaries. At least it will be here in time for Halloween.
And last but not least, who is going to be playing Pennywise? As said, Tim Curry’s performance was perfectly terrifying so it is a tough act to follow. Well, the makers have gone with Bill Skarsgard from Eli Roth’s series ‘Hemlock Grove’. He is a bit of a pretty boy but he’s also very experienced in the horror genre so I reckon with the right make up, he should be fit to play the part. Now you know what the deal is, it’s time to check out the old trailer to remind yourself of what a cracking series ‘It’ is:
Weird. If you can’t wait that long for your scary clown fix, check out the trailer for ‘ClownTown’. It looks fucking terrifying.
