Apparently decorating your house like a grisly, quadruple murder has just taken place outside of it is enough to have the police consistently called on you. Who knew?

As per Newsweek, Texas artist Steven Novak prompted several complaints after he scattered fake bodies and fake blood outside his East Dallas home to celebrate Halloween.
Fair play to the guy – he really put the work in:
Love the guy pinned to the roof with a meat cleaver through his head. No wonder the rest of the neighbourhood has shat itself.
Novak told The Dallas Observer that his decorations have brought police to the house multiple times following complaints, because I guess people can’t tell the difference between awesome Halloween decorations and actual gruesome murder scenes.
Novak explained how he came up with the idea and created the scary Halloween display:
I’ve always been up to hijinks like flying ghosts or 7-foot tall snow sculptures of myself, so if I was gonna do Halloween, it was obvious that it should be hyperreal.
No lights, fog machine, or camp … something that would really freak people out walking by in the dark. So I whipped up some dummies and slung 20 gallons of blood all over.
He is most proud of the tipped-over wheelbarrow full of trash bags to look like “a failed attempt to dispose of the dismembered bodies in the middle of the night.”
He said:
A kid walked by and asked me what happened to them; I said they ate too many Skittles.
On visits from the police:
I was only home twice to receive them. They told me they thought it was cool and that they were only there because they were required to reply to complaints from the sergeant.
They were in formation at the door and when I opened it they asked me if it was all mine. I asked, ‘You mean the blood and the bodies? Yeah, that’s me.
Good for this guy. He could probably walk around dressed like Freddy Krueger for Halloween and no one would bat an eyelid, but showing what Freddy does is somehow over the line? I mean OK if I was the police I’d probably look inside his house just to make sure we’re not dealing with a real psychopath here, but loving the dedication either way!
What would be funny is if an actual serial killer turned up and left a real dead body on his lawn. Don’t think anyone would be the wiser for quite some time.
