Hackers Get Into Met Police Social Media Accounts, Immediately Tweet ‘F**k The Police’

What would you do if you could hack into the Met Police’s social media accounts for the day? Deliver some home truths about judicial corruption? Perhaps @ a few politicians with some serious burns.

Or maybe you’d do what these hackers did and go with the old classic “fuck the police”.

Yep, Twitter users were stunned on Friday when a series of messages from London’s police service started throwing out messages like “FREE DIGGA D ON FOENEM GANG” and “‘F**K THE POLICE FREE DA GANG”. That’s some serious Mr. Robot shit right there, am I right?

The hackers also managed to get into the Met’s website to post the messages about rapper Digga D.

Although the hackers are yet to be identified, Scotland Yard confirmed its website had “been subject to unauthorised access”, although there’s been no attack on their IT infrastructure.

Last night, Friday 19 July, unauthorised messages appeared on the news section of our website as well as on the @metpoliceuk Twitter feed and in emails sent to subscribers.

While we are still working to establish exactly what happened, we have begun making changes to our access arrangements to MyNewsDesk.

We apologise to our subscribers and followers for the messages they have received.

At this stage, we are confident the only security issue relates to access to our MyNewsDesk account. We are assessing to establish what criminal offences have been committed.

Pretty funny stuff, although you could argue the hackers didn’t go as savage as they could’ve done. You’ve got to wonder if a bunch of teens are behind the whole thing after figuring out the Met’s password.

Either way, no harm done and we can all just have a good old chuckle about it. Except for Donald Trump, that is, who has weirdly chimed in on the incident to continue his attack on Mayor of London Sadiq Khan. Any excuse.
