You would think Gwen Stefani is too cool to be accused of something as silly as ‘cultural appropriation’, but apparently not. The usual types have gone after the No Doubt legend after she rocked dreadlocks in her new music video in which she joins forces with the one and only Sean Paul.
Check out the video below:
And some of the reaction:
Y’all. Mother Appropriation is BACK!!!! Where my 2000s No Doubt / Gwen hive at!!!?? ITS TIME!!! pic.twitter.com/AnDUt0H61W

Gwen Stefani really can’t take a break from cultural appropriation can she? As a giant No Doubt fan growing up, it sucks to see her not really care at allllll

It’s like she’s trying to find herself though other cultures. I think she’s super lost. He personality changes based on the people she’s around. IMO

Jeez, what a bunch of wet wipes! Imagine being even mildly upset by Gwen Stefani in dreadlocks? It’s worth noting that Sean Paul seems OK with it – he even high-fived her in the video! In another scene Gwen Stefani is dancing in a room full of black dudes, and not one of them punches her in the face because of her hairstyle!
Anyway, it’s pretty inconsequential stuff from the recreationally outraged types because most people are cool with Gwen Stefani doing whatever she wants, but it’s just another example of how dumb people on Twitter can be sometimes.
