Hospital conditions are often criticised in both this country and others all over the world, but I don’t think that I’ve ever heard of a situation like the one in this story where a man was forced to use his recently amputated foot as a pillow as there were no other options available.

The film was captured at Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College in Jhansi in India and can be seen below. The man was taken to hospital after a school bus carrying 25 kids and himself overturned after attempting to avoid a collision with a tractor.
Although everyone on the bus managed to survive, the guy you can see above was taken to hospital and his foot had to be amputated. His family were then obviously really angry that he was forced to use the foot as a headrest because there were no cushions or pillows available.
Relative Janaki Prasad said the following about it:
When we reached the hospital, we saw his leg being used as a headrest.
I repeatedly asked the doctors to intervene but they refused.
Finally, after about two hours, I managed to get a pillow for him from the market and that’s when the leg was removed.
In fairness, it doesn’t seem like the guy is that bothered about having to use his foot as a headrest but I suppose that’s because he was either in a state of shock or dosed up on morphine. Even if he was cool with it though, it probably shouldn’t have happened and following complaints, Medical Education Minister Ashutosh Tandon has ordered the suspension of emergency medical officer Dr Mahendra Pal Singh, senior resident Dr Alok Agarwal and nurses Deepa Narang and Shashi Srivastava. Guess this won’t be happening again any time soon.
For more of the same, check out this guy who had to get his penis amputated after a viagra overdose. Damn.
