Another of my favourite subsections of articles on Sick Chirpse is when people get tattoos that make absolutely no sense and I think that – even though this technically does make a bit sense – this guy is going to fall into that category as well.

Unfortunately, we don’t know the name of this muppet as the information about his tattoo came from 34 year old Dean Gunther’s TikTok account, but thankfully Gunther was only too happy to tell us all about him. Turns out the guy was tired of buying his favourite Nike trainers over and over again after wearing them down, so instead decided to get them tattooed on his feet.
Probably not quite the same effect in terms of actually owning a shoe, but I suppose he can just walk around his house now and pretend he’s wearing Nikes which is a similar experience. Then wear some crappy New Balances or whatever when he goes outside. Cost of living crisis and all that.
So yeah, it kind of makes sense in that respect, but in a normal, practical real world sense it doesn’t at all. You decide.
Anyway, here’s what Gunther had to say about this unique tattoo:
@dean.gunther who needs shoes if you can permanently tattoo them to your feet.#shoestattoo#art#tattoo#nike@nike ♬ ALMOST HOME – Mad Adix, Marc Steinmeier
I wanted to create the illusion that the person is wearing shoes, even though he’s bare feet. It will definitely make you look twice.
Drawing the tattoo on my free hand was the most challenging part.
I had to make sure everything flows with the contours of the body.
A stencil would not work in this case, so it’s all freehand.
Once that was on, the tattooing was straightforward.
He’s tired of paying for shoes, so he decided he will get his favourite pair of Nikes tattooed on him and he can see the funny side to it!
Definitely a great conversation starter. His wife loves it too.
Thanks for the info there Dean.
I gotta say though, is it really a great conversation starter? Maybe at the pool or the beach sure, but I don’t think this guy is gonna be walking around barefoot all the time because there’s a reason we all wear shoes and don’t do that – there’s loads of crap on the streets that might damage our feet – and I don’t think his tattoo is going to help with that. You actually need a real shoe for that.
I also question what kind of a conversation anyone is going to have with this guy other than asking him what the hell he’s thinking by getting such a stupid crap tattoo. Can’t really see anyone going much further than that to be honest, but hopefully I’ll be proved wrong and this dude will have many wonderful conversations in the future. Keep your toes crossed.
For more of the same, check out when bald men got their heads tattooed to hide their baldness. Novel idea.
