3) When’s The Big Day
The date for the vote has been set as the 18th September 2014. This wasn’t a date plucked from thin air, it’s the 700th anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314 where Robert Bruce kicked the crap out of the English. I guess the SNP are trying to stir up a bit of national pride and a bit of good old anti-Anglo rage. The Battle of Bannockburn paved the way for Scottish independence a few years later, but it didn’t last long.
4) Who Can Vote?
I can’t because I’m English and living in England, but basically everyone who is a resident in Scotland and is over 16 can vote. If you’re Scottish and live elsewhere in the UK then you can’t vote. That’s probably because you’re already sleeping with the enemy so why should you get a say?
