Earlier this year, Greggs bakery announced that there were introducing a drive-thru service in Manchester.

For the locals, this was obviously life-changing news – just imagine making a pit-stop on the way to work to stock up on sausage rolls and steak bakes. It’s what dreams are made of.
Well, you no longer have to feel jealous of those lucky northerners, because the trial went so well that they’re officially planning on rolling out Greggs drive-thrus across the UK. The chief executive, Roget Whiteside, confirmed the news this week:
We opened our first ‘Drive-Thru’ shop at Irlam, Greater Manchester, in June and have been encouraged by its popularity, indicating a demand for further drive-thru locations.
We are very excited by it – it’s got off to a flying start. It’s been interesting and exciting to see how well customers have taken to it.
Customers are very taken by the idea of not having to leave their cars.

Of course we were going to love the idea of sitting in our cars and having Greggs treats handed to us – there was no doubt that this trial was going to be winner and now we have confirmation.
The only downside is that we don’t have any definite dates of when this service will be put in place nationwide, but judging how quickly it progressed (the trial was announced in June this year) I’m sure we’ll be driving through to pick up steak bakes and doughnuts in no time at all. Result.
Now we just need them to roll out a delivery service to the rest of the UK and we’ll be sorted.
