6) Wage Based Fines

Finland and Sweden have an interesting way of punishing non-violent crimes. The word they use is dagboter, a dagboter is the equivalent of one day’s pay. So if you nicked a car and were fined 30 dagboters you would have to pay the equivalent of 30 days of your normal wage. The more you earn, the higher your fine.
In our legal system rich people are effectively punished more lightly, this is a pretty cool way of going about things, it levels the playing field a touch.
