Goodfellas is one of the truly great gangster movies of our time with an A list gangster movie cast (Robert De Niro, Ray Liotta, Joe Pesci and Lorraine Bracco) and one of the best directors of all time at the helm in Martin Scorsese, so it makes sense that it something special would happen for its 25th anniversary.

That’s apparently next year and in order to celebrate, the British Film Institute is playing it at selected screens around the country in gorgeous 4K from January 27th. They’ve even cut a new trailer for it to celebrate the occasion:
Yep, that’s going to be something special really isn’t it? Of course, I was way too young to see Goodfellas in the cinema since it first came out, and it’s probably one of those rare movies that I’ve seen a bunch of times that I would consider actually going to see on the big screen when I get the opportunity. Especially now that it’s in 4K.
Can’t wait until January? Another classic film (albeit in a completely different vein) is coming out next week at the cinema in 4K. I’m definitely checking it out.
