MRSA
Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a type of bacteria that you definitely don’t want anything to do with at all. It causes really hard to treat infections. Through a process of natural selection MRSA has become completely unphased by many regularly used antibiotics, they don’t even touch the sides. That’s a bit of a problem if it breaks out in a hospital filled with already weak patients.
MRSA isn’t any more virulent than other strains, it’s just that we don’t have the right types of guns to kill it. It’s like throwing kryptonite at Spiderman, he just don’t care.
Salmonella
My mum gave my dad salmonella once. Funny story. They had a purple light bulb in their dining room and my mum had cooked a chicken. The bird was far from ready to eat but because of the purple light neither of them had any idea just how pink it was inside. Queue vomiting and a few days in hospital. So yeah, cook chicken properly if I were you.
SARS Corona Virus
Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) is a serious form of pneumonia, caused by a virus. It’s no walk in the park, causing fever, aches, muscle pain followed by hardcore breathing difficulties. Once infected, around 10% will die. That figure goes up to 50% in the over 50’s category.
