More evidence that the selfie is more dangerous than a shark attack, as the latest ridiculous story about someone dying to get the perfect shot does the rounds.

This time it was a German guy visiting Peru who was the victim of his own stupidity. He was visiting the Machu Pichu ruins in the Peruvian Andes and decided to ignore safety signs and barriers to walk to the edge of a cliff and try and jump up and take a photograph over a ravine.
Unfortunately for him, he lost his footing and plummeted to his death in said ravine. Seriously stupid. Emergency crews recovered his body and it was taken to a morgue in nearby Cusco.
I would love to say that this is an isolated incident but the number of deaths caused by selfies in the last year or so have been notable – you’ve got the guy who shot himself in the face with a gun taking a selfie, the seven people who died taking a group selfie and the guys who lay in the middle of the road to get a selfie. Morons.

You would think people would have learned by now, but I expect this to probably continue until the end of humanity.
