A couple of weeks back we reported on 16-year-old German schoolgirl Linda Wenzel, who fled Berlin to join ISIS.

She was alleged brainwashed by a jihadi she had met online, but was captured last month and imprisoned in Iraq whilst authorities decided to what to about her. She had reportedly admitted to killing Iraqi soldiers, although it’s not definite whether these claims are true.
Well, it looks like things have gone from bad to worse for Wenzel – she now faces execution as a new video of her being captured has emerged. The video shows her being escorted by soldiers after being dragged from her hideout in Mosul.
It’s pretty traumatic stuff – especially when you consider that she had just been shot in the leg:
Now Linda, who changed her name to Mariam, could reportedly be given the death sentence if found guilty of being part of ISIS. Obviously some people are going to argue that she deserves this punishment, but I don’t think it’s right for anyone to be executed, and she’s so young. I don’t condone her actions, but this entire ordeal is more complex than a story of good vs. evil.
German authorities are hoping to avoid this and get her back to her home country, where they can try her instead. Nothing has been agreed so far so I guess we’ll have to wait and see how this thing pans out – we’ll keep you posted.
